While The Poseidon Adventure was more about the ship capsizing in the sea, this was about a high rise building in San Francisco catching fire, based on the novels The Tower by Richard Stern and The Glass Inferno by Thomas Scortia and Frank Robinson. This again was produced by Irwin Allen and had a heavy duty star cast. The Towering Inferno was one of those big screen movies I watched as a kid, along with The Poseidon Adventure, and was totally taken in by the on screen spectacle.
